Eucalyptus tree steel sculpture

Magne has created a massive sculpture out of a steel H-beam for Kjell Inge Røkke, which will be installed outside Røkke’s cabin in Oppdal. This type of work has never been attempted before.

Beatles

‘Beatles’ Movie

Magne has agreed to compose the original score as well as supervise the recordings of other music for the upcoming film “Beatles” produced by Norwegian production company Storm Rosenberg. The news that the film is allowed to use original recordings by the Beatles has already given it international attention.

Norwegian Wood

‘Norwegian Wood’ is an exhibition of ten new woodcut prints in large format, which will be presented by Paul Stolper in London from May 3 – June 1, 2013.

This new book is the first extensive publication to survey Magne’s career and works, and provide insight into the artist’s practice.

Desembertoner

Magne participated in the third annual ‘Desembertoner’ Christmas Concert, sponsored by Nordea on December 21, 2012.

Til Ungdommen Sculpture

Together with students from across the country, Magne created a time capsule sculpture, which has been placed in the lobby of the Norwegian National Archives (Riksarkivet) and will remain sealed until 2031.

‘Bokstavelig Kunst’ Interview

In December, Magasinet KUNST published a long interview with Magne in connection with ‘Bouquet’ and his 50th birthday.

Peer Gynt Festival

Magne and Håvard Vikhagen were chosen as this year’s artists for the annual Peer Gynt Festival, and had a joint exhibition in Vinstra which opened on August 2.

Code One

Magne designed the Code 1 artwork sail for the yacht ‘Aglaia’, which is the worldwide largest artwork on canvas. The yacht was launched in March 2011 and the sail debuted in July 2012.

Olsokdagene Festival

Magne was chosen as ‘artist of the year’ for the annual Olsokdagene festival in the historic town of Stiklestad. The theme of the festival is ‘across borders’.

Desibel

Magne wrote a unique piece of music for ‘Desibel’, the largest mobile horn system, which was performed as the opening fanfare for the 2012 Go With The Flø Festival. The music is a ‘collage of sounds’, and includes audio recorded at a local dockyard and a local farm.

Magne performed with British musician Robyn Hitchcock during the Go With The Flø Festival.

Til Ungdommen Workshop

Magne held this workshop at his atelier in Asker. Participants of this workshop were students from across Norway with the aim of creating a time capsule containing their written thoughts about the tragic events on July 22, 2011.

Blaafarveværket

On May 19, a retrospective exhibition opened at the Blaafarveværket museum in Nyfossum, Norway. The Exhibition consists of works from different periods including ceramic jars, woodcuts and prints.

Rom 13

Magne and 21 other Norwegians were interviewed and photographed for a book which focuses on the important choices people make in their lives. The project was a collaboration between The Thief and the Red Cross.

The Voice

‘The Voice’ Television Series

The popular international talent show ‘The Voice’ premiered in Norway on January 27, 2012, and Magne is participating as one of the four coaches.

Echo

The works consist of four large monotypes on hospital sheets, originally intended for Futura Plus, and a selection of twelve smaller monotypes on sheets and paper.

Futura Plus

Magne’s previously unseen ‘Futura Plus’ works were represented in a group exhibition called ‘Under stor press’ (‘under pressure’), which included over 800 works from 80 artists.

Shed 13

A large warehouse in Tjuvholmen was covered on two sides by six huge butterflies made by Damien Hirst.
